Book: The Gamble
Author: Xavier Neal
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Synopsis
3 friends. 2 players. 1 bet.
When Luca Larson makes an expensive wager, guaranteeing the bedding of his only real female friend, he's expecting the situation to go as smoothly as sleeping with any other woman would. It doesn't take long before he realizes his usual plays won't work. She knows them too well. She knows HIM too well. If Luca wants to win, he'll have to do things he's never done before. Friendships will be challenged. Hearts will be broken. Lives will be inevitably changed. But one question will remain. Was it all worth the gamble?
REVIEW:
I loved The Gamble. Neal brings a fresh voice to a sometimes over saturated genre. Luca is the asshole that you can't help but love, but I think the real prize in this book has to be Alexxa. She isn't the pushover Mary Jane type of character who falls over at the slightest glance from Luca. No, she's strong and she definitely holds her own when it comes to him. I easily found myself enjoying this book. It was well-written, sweet, and funny right off the bat.
The author did a wonderful job adding depth to all of her characters. They were all relatable and well fleshed out. I especially enjoyed the dynamic between the three friends and how Luca and Warren sort of counter balanced each other out.
While this was my first book by Xavier Neal, I will definitely be stalking her author page to read anything else she writes. Xavier Neal definitely created a story worth reading. It's unique and a book I highly recommend readers take a chance on. You won't regret it.
