Print Edition Only: A New Loving on the Edge Short Story!
Review:
I've been waiting for the complete novel of Not Until You since I read the first part back in May of 2013. While it's been a long wait, this story did not disappoint. I loved it!
In the beginning of the novel, we are
introduced to Cela, a hard working veterinarian graduate who's spent the past seven years studying and being the good girl her family wants her to be. Armed with a little bit of liquid courage Cela decides that she's
finally ready to let loose and have a little fun after graduation. And who better to have
fun with than the two hotties next door?
Foster and Pike create the
perfect balance for this story. Ian Foster is the domineering suit who's cool, calm and in control, except when it comes to Cela. Any time he's around his curvy Latina neighbor, Foster finds it hard to restrain his desire and control his inner dominance. Opposite of Foster, we have the sexy Pike with his boyish charms who's a combination of sexy and funny. Foster and Pike together would tempt any girl out of her panties, so it's no surprise when Cela decides to seek their help in knocking some the items off of her 'Never Have I Ever' (to-do) list.
What I loved about this story:
I loved that Cela
showed some culture in her character. We get to see glimpses of her
background, her heritage and her strict family. Cela was easy to like
and fun to get to know. I really liked Ian and Pike and how they're
a balance beam for one another. Right off the bat, I felt myself drawn to their characters. Both Foster and Pike have dark pasts, but it really makes them all the more interesting. I have to admit that even from the beginning, I couldn't help but like Foster more than Pike. I thought that the majority of the story would focus on the relationship between the three characters, but it was obvious from the beginning who Cela really cared for.
It
was hard not to squirm with anticipation every time Foster and Cela
were in a room together. The chemistry between them was intense and it
made their sex scenes all the better. I loved that although Foster was
hesitant to dive back into another serious relationship, he still did so
many things to show Cela that he truly cared for her. I was refreshing to see that he wasn't your typical playboy.
I really enjoyed the buildup. Usually, I find myself bored after the first sex scene or two, but Roni keeps things interesting. It was fun reading about Cela learning more about the BDSM lifestyle/scene and although the inner struggle that she felt was frustrating at times, it made for a great story. The tension between Foster's broken past and the insecurity he felt with his relationship with Cela, had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't wait to see how this story ended. In fact, at one point I was tempted to read the end just to make sure it ended with a HEA.
I think my only complaint about this novel is I wanted to see more of Pike. Believe me, I definitely loved Foster but I felt like Pike fell off the face of the earth for too much of the story, and he is such a fun character. I really do hope that Roni writes his story. I would love to see more of Pike.
Overall, I would highly recommend reading this serial novel. It really took me by surprise, in the best way possible. I look forward to reading A LOT more from Roni Loren.
