REVIEW: Speed of Light was an interesting read and different
from what I had been reading lately. I
enjoyed the story to its full extent and loved the characters. The story
bounces back and forth between Meridian and Juliet in the first person narrative
with mainly Meridian being the leading lady. I enjoyed the two different points
of views and only wished to have been inside of Juliet’s mind more often if not
more than Meridian. While throughout the book, it seems as Meridian is the main
character but to me Juliet stood out as the main character. This book is a
classic twist on Good vs. Evil, Light vs. Dark. I could feel the heartache,
sorrow and love of each of the characters throughout the entire story. With that
being said, I have to admit, I was often quite confused while reading and had
to reread a few parts a couple times over to make sure I understood what was
happening. I hadn’t realized that the book was the third and final installment
of the series (trilogy). However it was still extremely well written and enjoyable.
Amber Kizer does a brilliant job with the characters. Almost each and every one
of them have an unknown past which brings them all together and for the ones
that knew their past or their families they fit in with the group with one simple
desire. To see Light defeat the Dark. The book is equally balanced with love,
humor, heartache and sorrow. Everything that is said or done has a purpose
which may not be understandable at first but it all fits within the story. As I
may have liked this book so well, I’m afraid I couldn’t enjoy it to its fullest
potential due to the fact that I hadn’t read the previous two books. The fact
that it’s different than most books I’ve been reading and that it was extremely
well written I was able to adore this book. I must admit though I cannot wait
to reread it after I have the chance to read the first two books only then can
I truly appreciate the good work that lays in front of me.
